  • Every production process can be classified based on how raw material input is carried out and how the product is obtained from it.It is primarily distinguished between continuous and batch processes, although there are variations that combine characteristics of both processes.

  • Continuous Process: The flow of raw material input into the system is constant throughout the production process, with the product output also being constant

  • Batch Process (also known as Batch Processing): The total amount of raw material is introduced into the system at the beginning of the process, and the total amount of product is obtained after a certain period.

  • The main criterion for designing the proper functionality of automatic Batch Process systems is the development of a solution based on ISA S88. The system processes recipes containing various products or ingredients in a safe and easily operable manner. The Batch Process system ensures the repeatability of manufacturing processes for a recipe, thus guaranteeing the quality of the produced product.

Both Batch and Continuous control systems meet the criteria of CFR21 Part 11, which establishes requirements for maintaining electronic records.
